Rabbitohs forward Kyle Turner explains the disappointment following the weekends result but is hopeful the season is not over just yet.
“It’s disappointing,” said Turner.
“We’ve worked really hard in the preseason and to toss out what we have so far this year it’s been a bit of a disappointment for the boys. We sort of think we owe each other better and what we are tossing up is just not acceptable but you know we are still not out of it, we are just looking at Saturday night and putting in a good performance there.”
Turner believes the team’s position has been caused by not consistently playing for the full 80 minutes.
“There are moments in the game where we are showing what we are capable of and we are just not doing it for the consistent 80 minutes. That’s what football is, you train all week for that 80 minutes and it’s just a matter of going out and doing that."
Despite the disappointment, Turner explains the goal to pick themselves back up and focus on this week’s game against the Canberra Raiders on Saturday.
“It is disappointing but you’ve got to pick yourself back up and get on to next week. I don’t think we are out of it yet so it’s just a matter of getting on the drawing board, learning what we can and getting it on Saturday night.
“Anything can happen in the NRL.
“They are a good side. They’ve got some good forwards, strong backs, they’re going to turn up for the game. They are still in the run like us, it’s do or die for everyone now, it’s going to be a tough game.”
