Rabbitohs forward, Sam Burgess is confident in the way his team finished the 2016 season and believes they are in a good position ahead of pre-season.
“As a Club we finished the season strongly, more to the standard of what we believe we can produce every week," said Burgess.
“I think that will take us forward into pre-season with a good mind frame and good belief moving into the 2017 season, we are looking forward to that.”
Although the Rabbitohs were unable to secure a finals match, the highlights for Burgess surrounded the young players who made their NRL debuts in 2016.
“2016 has been a great year in so many ways then obviously disappointing with the finishing result.
“So many things in a year, it’s hard to pick one thing but a common theme is seeing some young players make their NRL debuts which they’ll remember for a long time which is very special.”
Personally Burgess had a strong season finishing with the third highest number of runs in the NRL totalling 399. He also made the fifth highest off-loads totalling 49 for the season and ranked 6th for his 1170.6 post contact metres.
