Come join the South Sydney Rabbitohs' past and present players and officials at the Souths Player Association annual reunion lunch at Souths Juniors Saturday 16 June.
Celebrating the Red and Green's biggest hitters in the Club's 110-year history, attendees will hear from famous South Sydney names whilst enjoying a two-course meal with an included drinks package.
Created back in 2002 as a way of preserving the history and tradition of the Rabbitohs Club, the Souths Players Association creates a heritage that celebrates all those who have represented the famous Cardinal and Myrtle jersey.
SPA committee member and former Rabbitoh Sean Garlick, who was also a part of its original design, says that the annual meetings really epitomised the heritage of the South Sydney Rabbitohs Club.
"I was football manager at the time in 2002-2003 when the Rabbitohs got back into the comp and we needed then more than ever to show the players that we assembled from anywhere and everywhere and needed to demonstrate what the Rabbitohs' history and tradition is all about," said Garlick.
"The main reason is to keep players involved at the Club and we want to really impress upon players especially those who just retire just how welcome they are and how important it is for them to stay involved.
"We really wanted to provide a platform whereby they can stay involved they still have a sense of belonging and get to enjoy the camaraderie and good time they had."
South Sydney Rabbitohs Chief Commercial Officer and former player Shannon Donato echoed Garlick's words and believes the lunch is a great way not just for the players and officials but also for the Members and supporters who want to learn more about the great history of the Club.
"It's just a way of keeping the tradition and the heritage of the Club alive," said Mr Donato.
"On the day we will be hearing from some of our biggest hitters like John Sattler, Mario Fenech, Les Davidson, Mark Carrol and even Sam Burgess from the current team.
"It's a great opportunity for anyone who loves this Club to immerse themselves even deeper into the culture that we have here."
The Souths Player Association Lunch is on Saturday 16 June starting at 12.30pm and finishing at 4.30pm.
