For Sam Burgess, last night’s Round 10 win over the Parramatta Eels comes down to attitude, and there was certainly no shortage of it dressed in Red and Green.
Despite South Sydney bursting out of the blocks at Pirtek Stadium in the opening 20 minutes – out-enthusing the Eels both in attack and defence – Burgess’ men would go to the break down by 20-6.

But the level of hunger and enthusiasm grew as the game went on, with a final minute Luke Keary try levelling the scores at 20 apiece before Adam Reynolds kicked the winning goal from the touchline.
“We continued to work hard, as we always do,” said Burgess of the effort.
“We continued to believe in our structure and team. I think the biggest change on the night was just our attitude in the first 20 minutes. We started quite strong and we held it for most of the game.
“Some big individual efforts. I thought Nathan Brown, Paul Carter and Cameron McInnes were very strong for us in the opening 20 minutes and my brother Thomas as well laid a good platform for us to then go on and do what we needed to do at the back end.”
