Rabbitohs forward, Jason Clark, knows that his side must compete for the full 80 minutes if they are to be competitive for the remainder of the season, starting with this week’s clash against the Canberra Raiders at ANZ Stadium on Sunday.
After a string of disappointing results in recent weeks, Clark has stated that his side must compete for the full duration of a match if they are reverse their fortunes at the back end of the season.
“We’ve just got to put that 80 minutes together. We’ve been saying weekly that we’re good in patches, it’s just a matter of putting those patches all together and playing for the 80 minutes,” said the back-rower.
“The things that are hurting us obviously are the unforced errors, once we can eradicate them from our game I think we’ll be in a good position, but for now we’ve got to get them out of the game and worry about holding that ball and playing for the 80.”
Despite being plagued by injury and suspension throughout the season, the Souths junior knows that his side can’t afford to make excuses for their underwhelming season to date.
“We don’t want to make excuses that players have been out and there’ve been injuries and these been these sorts of things, that’s football,
“All teams have to deal with it and we’ve got some great depth in the team with some young blokes coming through. It’s hard to deal with, but that’s football.”
Clark will be looking to back up his solid performance against the Sea Eagles that saw the veteran run for 73 metres with ball in hand and complete 28 tackles in a 41 minute performance.
