Clark – Plenty to Work On

While pleased with their Round 1 victory over the Roosters, there’s still plenty for the men in Red and Green to work on according to forward, Jason Clark, ahead of this Saturday’s clash against the Newcastle Knights at ANZ Stadium.

“It was a good result – it’s only Round 1 so we’ve got plenty to work on still,” said Clark.

“You see the combinations sort of coming out, like I said it’s only Round 1, but yeah looking forward to the rest of it – 25 (Rounds) to go.”

Sunday’s 42-10 victory over the Tricolours also marked the first time that Clark’s men played under the game’s new reduced interchange rules – teams now limited to just eight changes per match, while also being subject to a shot-clock for scrums and line drop-outs.

Clark dismissed suggestions that the changes will promote a new style of play.

“Not as much a different style – I think you just see people blowing probably a bit quicker that have to try and push through that barrier of feeling that fatigue,” said Clark.

“I think as the season goes on, teams will get used to it and won’t have too much of an effect,

“I wouldn’t say I’m the fittest one, but that’s something I’ve been working on and I’ll continue to work on that for sure.”
