The South Sydney Rabbitohs are delighted to hear of the appointment of the His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret'd) as Governor-General.
The Governor of New South Wales was announced to hold the country's most senior vice-regal position this morning (17 December) by Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
His Excellency holds a wealth of experience within the Australian Defence Force, having served for over 42 years, including appointments as vice-chief and chief of the Defence Force, and also commanded Australia's 1RAR deployment to Somalia in 1993.
His Excellency has been heavily involved in the South Sydney community, most notably with the Clean Slate Without Prejudice program in Redfern that encourages young people and children to be active through a number of fitness and boxing activities.
His Excellency is also a patron of over 240 different charities and community organisations throughout the country. He is also one of the Club's most passionate and loyal Members, and a regular attendee at Rabbitohs matches.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs would like to congratulate His Excellency on his appointment.
