A humble John Sutton spoke to the Rugby League media on Thursday about his upcoming milestone game, but did his best to turn the focus away from himself and towards the performance of the team.
Speaking ahead of the huge clash with the North Queensland Cowboys in Cairns this Sunday, Sutton said he can’t believe he’s reached the 250 game mark, but the important thing is winning the two competition points on Sunday.
“I never thought I’d get to 250, but here I am. I’m looking forward to it,” Sutton said.
“It’s been disappointing the last couple of games I’ve been back so I’m just looking to get that win.
“(This Club) has been a massive part of my life and my family’s, so I’m very happy to be playing 250 this week, but I’d just like to get the two points. That’s the main focus for myself.”
Sutton said the milestone of 250 games has snuck up on him.
“I didn’t realise until I was injured with my pec that I was so close,” Sutton revealed.
“So I’ve been off for 14 weeks but then I knew it was coming up.
“I’m pretty happy that I’ve made it this far. Like I said, it’s a huge achievement for myself, but I just want to get the two points and the win on the weekend.”
