Sutton, who is Rabbitohs first grade player #1020, became the first player to play 300 NRL games for the South Sydney Rabbitohs earlier this year, having made his first grade debut in 2004 against the Brisbane Broncos.
Sutton, who is heading into his 16th season of NRL football in 2019, led the Rabbitohs as captain to the Club's 2014 NRL premiership title and is a South Sydney junior from the Kensington United and La Perouse Panthers clubs.
Sutton is delighted to be extending his tenure with South Sydney for a further season in 2019.
"I couldn't be happier about having the opportunity to play another season with Souths," Sutton said.
John SuttonIt's my dream job and I feel privileged to have the chance to play Rugby League for a living with a club like this.
"I love the Rabbitohs, I love playing for the Members and the fans, and I can't wait to get back to training and ripping in to get ready for the season ahead."
Rabbitohs General Manager of Football, Shane Richardson, says Sutton is a giant of the Club.
RichardsonJohn Sutton is our longest serving player, our most capped player with over 300 NRL games, and was the captain of our 2014 Premiership-winning team. To put it simply, he has earned legend status at South Sydney.
"I've known John and his family for nearly 15 years now and he has grown as a leader and player on the field; and as a man, husband and father off the field in that time.
"He played some of the best football of his career in 2018 and he has earned another season at the Rabbitohs.
"John's experience is invaluable and he is a much loved and respected member of the team.
"We're delighted to see John in the red and green for another year in 2019."
