Rabbitohs winger, Alex Johnston, knows that if his side sticks to their structure, they are capable of winning any match – something they will be looking to prove against the Penrith Panthers on Friday night.
After a string of disappointing results in recent weeks, Johnston believes that his side needs to improve upon the execution of the game plan provided by Head Coach, Michael Maguire.
“We need to turn around how we’re playing. I know if we hold the ball and follow the structure that Madge has given us, we’ll win,” said Johnston.
Johnston – who has scored 7 tries from his 8 games in 2016 – also highlighted the importance of discipline leading into the Round 16 clash with the Panthers.
“Penalties against us at the moment is something we really need to work on, it’s hurting us a lot and it’s something that we’ll address this week.”
Despite the issues that were evident against the Eels in Round 15, the Red and Greens displayed some high quality football for periods of the match, but were unable to sustain the performance for the duration of the encounter – something that the Rabbitohs winger knows all too well.
“It’s just about playing it for 80 minutes. I think it’s more of a mentally working to continue that performance for the full 80.”
