With voting open for the Rugby League All Stars, we're looking back at our Indigenous Round clash with the Dragons when we donned our special Indigenous Round Jersey.
Kyle Turner added his name to the scoresheet in our Indigenous Round clash with the Dragons on a night where three of our six tries in the 34-24 victory was scored through Indigenous hands.
Turner felt it was a special night for the Rabbitohs and our connection to the Indigenous people in the heart of Redfern and abroad.
“We’ve got a strong connection with Indigenous people, being based in Redfern,” said Turner.
“The culture around here is really strong – it’s really special to us to run out with the jersey when we do. It holds that extra meaning, not just to be a part of the Bunny, but representing your people out there.”
To be a part of the Indigenous Jersey's creation was a moment of pride for Turner, a moment that will hold a special place in his heart.
“It really meant a lot to me,” said Turner.
“My grandmother was an elder of the community and she was one of the few remaining people in the community that still knew the Gamilaraay language.
“Stuff like that always holds a special place in my heart – being a part of the family and what they represented.”
Vote for Kyle Turner to play in the NRL All Stars Clash to be played on Friday 10th February 2017 here!
