Students in Souths Cares Nanga Mai Marri (Dream Big) Program visited Optus Headquarters in Macquarie Park yesterday as part of ‘Career Choice Day’.
The aim of Career Choice Day is to provide students with exposure to a large corporate employer and provide tasters of the many different careers which exist in a big business such as Optus.
Students from South Sydney High School and Matraville Sports High School received a VIP, behind-the-scenes tour of Optus and also participated in some hands on workshops including launching a marketing campaign and producing advertisements.
Souths Cares mentor, Danny Allende explained the excursion to Optus HQ was a great way to get students thinking about their careers after school.
“There are so many options for our students after they leave school. Our role as mentors is to help students believe in themselves and believe that any career pathway is possible if they are dedicated to their education," said Allende.
The Nanga Mai Marri (Dream Big) Program is supported by the Australian Government.
