No jersey quite like the Red and Green - McGrady

Outside back Sharon McGrady says there is no other jersey she would rather pull on than the South Sydney Rabbitohs’.

“It feels better than putting on any other jersey, to be honest," said McGrady.

"I’m so happy to be here and just play for this team. I know we didn’t get into the NRL Women’s comp but I’m happy to be where I am and the other girls are too.”

Speaking after her side’s big win against arch-rivals the Cronulla-Caringbah Sharks, McGrady believes the team was extra fired up after they missed out on a spot in the NRL women’s competition at the end of the season.

“One-hundred percent it did. I’m sure it did with Cronulla too, but we just had our mindset of proving that we deserve to be in the competition as well.”

Whilst, moving across the paddock through the first two games of the season, McGrady got her chance to play at fullback on Saturday and was delighted to get her chance in the number one jersey.

“I’m pretty confident in playing anywhere, to be honest," McGrady explained.

"Nakia (Davis-Welsh) played fullback earlier in the season, and I played off the bench but when we had injuries, she moved to the centres and I got my chance at fullback but I’m happy to play wherever the team needs me.”

Moving forward McGrady knows there is still plenty of work to be done but is still immensely proud of the team’s undefeated start to the season.

“I’d say we probably need to work a bit more on our fitness, our talk and our defence. We’ll eventually get there,” said McGrady.

“(But) It feels great. It was a hard game but our work at training really showed and I’m proud of my teammates.”
