The South Sydney Rabbitohs will be aiming to change their fortunes with a victory over the Brisbane Broncos this Saturday night at home at ANZ Stadium, with the NRL fixture set to kick off at 7:30pm.
With the Rabbitohs having lost their last five matches, and the Broncos going down in five of their last six games, both sides will be looking to find form if they are to make a difference in this year’s Finals Series.
The Rabbitohs will have no players backing up from Origin III, with captain Greg Inglis suspended on Thursday for a grade two shoulder charge. The Broncos are expected to have five players backing up from Origin, with Broncos captain Corey Parker also ruled out from a suspension following Origin III. Both sides are expected to confirm their final line ups one hour before kick off.
The Rabbitohs will be looking for an improved performance compared to the one they turned in against the Broncos in round eight when they went down 30 points to eight at Suncorp Stadium. The Rabbitohs were outclassed that night and will be looking to improve in all areas this Saturday night.
The Rabbitohs are looking for their first win at home at ANZ Stadium since round 11 when they defeated the Dragons 34 points to 24. The Broncos will be looking for their first win away from home since round 10 which was an away game played at Suncorp Stadium against Manly. Their last victory away from Suncorp Stadium was in round five against the Titans on the Gold Coast. Their last victory outside of Queensland was in round one against the Parramatta Eels.
The Rabbitohs are expecting to get a few injured players back in coming weeks, with George Burgess returning this week, and players like Bryson Goodwin, Zane Musgrove and Hymel Hunt not far away either. The Broncos have Jordan Kahu returning on the wing for this game after a lengthy injury layoff.
This game, the Rabbitohs are celebrating Junior Appreciation Round, as well as being the Club’s Old Boys day. Junior players from the South Sydney and North Sydney districts will take part in a pre-game march past, as will a host of former players, much to the delight of the crowd on the night.
Spotlight: The Halves
The halves combinations for both teams will need to stand up and control their sides this Saturday night, as well as spark the attack when required.
Adam Reynolds will fired up for a big game having missed Origin III through injury. His halves partner Luke Keary will also looking to cement his position at five-eighth for the remainder of the season with a big performance against the Broncos.
Brisbane halves Ben Hunt and Anthony Milford were on fire at the start of the season but their influence on a game has not been so strong in recent weeks. They fire and the Broncos will fire.

The South Sydney under 20s outfit will be looking to secure back-to-back victories over Queensland-based opponents when they take on the Broncos on Saturday evening at ANZ Stadium.
The Young Rabbitohs knocked over the second-placed Cowboys in their last start two weeks ago at the Simply Energy High Performance Centre at Redfern Oval, and will be working hard to do the same against the ninth-placed Broncos this week.
The Broncos will be looking to break a two-match losing streak on Saturday night which has seen them drop away from the top eight.
The Rabbitohs under 20s are in a similar position to their senior counterparts, needing to win a majority of their games if they are to make the finals this year.
