The South Sydney Rabbitohs are delighted to announce the contract extension of back rower Jacob Host for the 2024 and 2025 seasons today.
Host, 26, has played 81 NRL matches, including 30 games for the Rabbitohs, since making his first grade debut for the Dragons in 2016.
Host played for the Rabbitohs in the 2021 NRL Grand Final against the Penrith Panthers, won the Club’s Bob McCarthy Clubman of the Year award in 2022, and has represented the Junior Kangaroos and Australian Schoolboys.
Host is very happy to be extending his tenure with South Sydney.
“I’m really excited about re-signing here at Souths. They have shown great faith in me and I want to repay that with strong performances,” Host said.
“Everyone at the club is like family and getting to play with my mates every week, all of us with a common goal of winning the premiership, is a special feeling.
Jacob HostThe Members and the fans are second-to-none as well. We all love representing you and we want to win more competitions for you.
“I’ve worked really hard to bounce back from my injury that I suffered last year and I can’t wait to continue playing in the red and green.”
Rabbitohs Head of Football, Mark Ellison, says Host is ready to take the next step forward in his career.
“‘Hosty’ has faced some adversity since joining us in 2021 but he is a fantastic footballer and a better man,” Mr Ellison said.
“He was in our top 17 for the 2021 NRL Grand Final and he would have been right in the mix for our Finals charge last season as well if not for his injury.
“He is a fantastic leader at the Club, a player that other players want to play with, evidenced by him being awarded the Clubman of the Year award named after one of our great second rowers in Bob McCarthy.
“We’re all looking forward to helping Jacob take the next steps forward in his game over the next three seasons in the red and green.”
