The South Sydney Rabbitohs were welcomed to the Australian Institute of Sport by Olympic medalist and Rabbitohs Member Jane Saville.
Saville, a bronze medallist in the 20km race walk event at the 2004 Athens Games, delivered a motivational speech to open the Rabbitohs' five-day training camp at Australia's Olympic facility.
Saville, who is also a three-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist and comes from a Red and Green family hailing from Maroubra, said: “It's just been an absolute pleasure, not only as a Bunnies fan, but as an athlete, to share my experiences.
Olympic medallist Jane Saville“It's not only about success but the challenges you have to overcome, both mental and physical challenges, to be an elite athlete.”
“It was a pleasure to be in front of the boys. My mum and dad were really excited for me and my sister said 'just go and have fun' and they are just a really good bunch of guys so it was a pleasure to talk to them.”
Head Coach Anthony Seibold is leading the team through a series of field, gym, pool, wrestling and boxing sessions across the week in Canberra as preparations ramp up ahead of the 2018 season.
