Souths Juniors from the Harold Matthews and S.G. Ball Cup sides were treated to a special guest jersey presentation by Head Coach Anthony Seibold and South Sydney Rabbitohs star John Sutton.
The initiative aimed at inspiring the next generation of players pushing through the South Sydney Rabbitohs ranks wasn’t the first for Sutton, as he actively plays a role in the development of the juniors on a fortnightly basis.
On this occasion, the Rabbitohs appearance record holder was there to present them with their official jerseys for the season as well as providing words of encouragement.
He wasn’t alone with Coach Seibold addressing the players prior to the presentation on the importance of effort - an essential element of any regular first grader.
Wind back the clock just over a year ago and you would have seen Campbell Graham strapping up the boots at Erskineville Oval, while the previous year Cameron Murray was also anchored on the Rabbitohs radar.
The fact that these players along with Sutton himself have gone on to become first graders shows the clear pathway to first grade that both the Harold Matthews, S.G. Ball Cup sides and Rabbitohs have in place.
