After a stellar performance displayed on the weekend at the Charity Shield, the Rabbitohs are counting down the days until the footy season kicks off with round one on Friday 3 March.
As preseason comes to an end, Damien Cook explains the team’s excitement around training as the countdown ticks away with just under two weeks until game time.
“Yeah it’s been very good,” Cook said.
“We have played the Charity Shield which is the first game that gets us started for the footy season so it’s very exciting.”
With changes implemented in the coaching department, Cook describes the new faces as a positive change up to the preseason training.
“We’ve had a bit of a change up with different coaches coming on board, one from the Cowboys and one from Melbourne so it’s good to have a different opinion on our attack and defence than last year.
“Our strength and conditioners changed as well so all that preseason training was a good change up from last year and a good fresh start.”
With a rest day scheduled for today, the team’s focus now narrows in on each game as it comes starting with the Wests Tigers.
”Obviously we want to win the premiership at the end of the year, that’s everyone’s goal, we’ve been training very hard for that and we’ve just got to take it week by week starting with the Tigers in Round one.”
