The Rabbitohs junior representative pathways teams will have their first hit outs ahead of their 2025 seasons in December this year, as the Club gets itself set for the season to commence in February 2025.
The female pathways will be the first to take to the turf with the Rabbitohs playing the Sharks on Saturday 14 December at the Sharks Academy. The Lisa Fiaola Cup under 17s girls teams will play at 11:30am with the Tarsha Gale Cup under 19s women’s teams to play at 1:30pm.
The following Friday 20 December the male pathways will have their turn against the Sharks at the Sharks Academy, with the Harold Matthews Cup under 17s boys game kicking off at 5pm and the SG Ball Cup under 19s men’s teams playing at 6:30pm.
The second trial match for all teams will be against the Knights on Saturday 11 January at the Lakeside Sports Complex in Raymond Terrace. The Lisa Fiaola Cup game will kick off at 10am, followed by the Tarsha Gale Cup clash at 11:30am, the Harold Matthews Cup match at 1pm and the SG Ball Cup game at 2:30pm.
The final hit out before the season for all four teams will be against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at Erskineville Oval on Saturday 18 January. The Lisa Fiaola Cup game will start at 10am, followed by the Tarsha Gale Cup match at 11:15am, the Harold Matthews Cup clash at 1pm and the SG Ball Cup game at 2:30pm.
Rabbitohs Head of Pathways, David Furner, is looking forward to seeing the young Rabbitohs take to the field.
“These young players work very hard to earn their opportunity to wear the Rabbitohs jersey and these trial matches will be big games for a lot of players trying to forge a career in Rugby League,” Mr Furner said.
“We have been impressed with the levels at training across all four male and female squads so far and we’re looking forward to seeing them on the field of play under game conditions.
“It’s a chance for the coaches to assess their squads and start to implement game plans ahead of the season commencement in February.
“It would be great to see as many Rabbitohs Members and fans come along to these games to show support for the next generation of South Sydney players, as well as to the competition games throughout the season.”
