Students from La Salle Academy Lithgow were treated with a backstage pass to the USANA Rabbitohs High Performance Centre this week, where they took part in our Rising Stars workshop and a Rugby League Skills clinic. The Rising Stars workshop provides students with both a foundational education and hands-on experience in essential life skills, such as setting meaningful goals, building sustainable habits, fostering healthy ambition, and developing resilience.
Glenn Carpenter, Principal, La Salle Academy''La Salle Academy’s Year 9 boys had a fantastic experience with the Souths Cares Rising Stars Wellbeing Program. It inspired them to reflect on their ambitions, set SMART goals, and understand the importance of self-discipline, planning, and resilience—especially for those aiming to reach the highest levels in sport.
Through carefully designed sessions, students are introduced to a structured process rooted in research and tailored to their unique needs, ensuring they are equipped with tools for holistic growth. By engaging in activities that emphasise physical, mental, and emotional well-being, participants learn to create and adopt habits that positively impact their daily lives.
The workshop also encourages self-reflection, empowering students to identify their strengths and areas for growth. This approach helps them to not only set realistic and achievable goals but also build confidence as they work towards their aspirations. Throughout the workshop, students experience a supportive environment that reinforces the importance of perseverance, adaptability, and a positive mindset—skills essential for overcoming future challenges. One of the key messages underpinning the Rabbitohs Wellbeing ethos is to prioritise daily movement and our skills clinics are a great, fun way to incorporate this into our sessions. The added bonus for the La Salle Academy students was the opportunity to both play and learn within the same walls and on the same field as our Rabbitohs NRL squad.
