On this day in 2018, John Sutton entered the 300 Club being the first South Sydney Rabbitoh to bring up that milestone.
It was against the Wests Tigers in Round 19 where the Kensington United junior made history.
After passing Bob McCarthy in 2014 for the most games played for the Rabbitohs, Sutton captained South Sydney to their 21st premiership later that year. He was the first Rabbitohs player since John Sattler in 1971 to be presented with the Premiership trophy at season’s end.
Sutton made his debut in 2004 against the Brisbane Broncos and finished his playing career at the end of 2019 with a total of 336 NRL games.
