The South Sydney Rabbitohs have farewelled utility Michael Chee Kam, halves Dean Hawkins and Dion Teaupa, and outside backs Richie Kennar, Izaac Tu’itupou Thompson and Leon Te Hau, at the end of the 2024 season, in addition to 200-game players Thomas Burgess and Damien Cook which were announced departures earlier this year.
Chee Kam, 32, has played 132 NRL games, including 38 games for South Sydney, since making his debut for the Sea Eagles against the Cowboys in round 26, 2014. Chee Kam joined the Rabbitohs in season 2022.
Kennar, 29, has played 50 NRL games so far in his career including 27 games for the Rabbitohs, since making his debut for the Storm against the Panthers in round 13, 2015. Kennar joined the Rabbitohs for the 2018 season, rejoining the Club in 2022.
Hawkins, 25, has played 14 NRL games since making his debut for South Sydney against the Broncos in round five, 2021. Hawkins captained the Rabbitohs’ NSW Cup side to a NSWRL premiership and NRL State Championship in 2023.
Teaupa, 22, has played four NRL games, all for South Sydney, since making his debut against the Dragons in round ten of this season. Teaupa represented Tonga in two Test matches at the end of last season whilst playing with South Sydney.
Tu’itupou Thompson, 27, has played 13 NRL games, all for South Sydney, since making his debut against the Warriors in round 21 of the 2022 season.
Te Hau, 21, is yet to make his NRL debut.
