The South Sydney Rabbitohs are excited to announce that the Club will return to Glen Willow Stadium in Mudgee in February 2025 for the annual Charity Shield match against the St George Illawarra Dragons, with the Rabbitohs, Dragons and Mid-Western Regional Council announcing the feature pre-season match of the year will be played in Mudgee for the next two seasons.

The Rabbitohs will also be venturing back to Perth in Western Australia for a home game at Perth’s premier stadium, Optus Stadium, for a premiership home game during the 2025 season, as part of a two-year agreement reached with the Western Australian Government.

2025 will see the 42nd Charity Shield contested at Mudgee’s Glen Willow Stadium for the seventh time, with South Sydney having won five of the previous six matches at the venue.

This will be the Rabbitohs 12th visit to Perth to play a home game since 2009, with this being the Club’s third match at Optus Stadium.

Rabbitohs CEO, Blake Solly, says Rabbitohs Members are expected to travel in numbers to Mudgee and Perth for these events.

“Here at the Rabbitohs, we’re very excited to be returning to both Mudgee for the annual Charity Shield match against the Dragons over the next two seasons, and to Perth’s Optus Stadium for a competition match again in 2025,” Rabbitohs CEO Blake Solly said.

“We weren’t in a position to play in Mudgee last year due to the season opener in Las Vegas, however as soon as this became an option for us to return, alongside the Dragons with the support of Mid-Western Regional Council, we jumped at it.

“Similarly with Perth, as our discussions progressed with the Western Australian Government, it became clear that we could return to our ‘home away from home’ ahead of the expected inclusion of the Perth-based NRL team in the coming seasons.

“The feedback we get from our Members and supporters about the trips to Mudgee and Perth is always very positive. They are both wonderful cities to visit and our players enjoy the support we receive from the people of Mudgee and the surrounding areas, as well as Western Australians when we head across the Nullabor.

“It also means that Souths Cares can head back out to these regions and deliver their life-changing programs to kids in the central west of New South Wales and south-west Western Australia with two of their many regional tours they conduct each year.

“The best, and potentially only, way for Rabbitohs supporters to secure Charity Shield tickets or the best seats at Optus Stadium is to become a Member, so jump onto the Rabbitohs website now to renew or sign up for your 2025 Membership.
