Honouring Service Through Performance: 2025 ANZAC Jersey Unveiled

When the South Sydney Rabbitohs run out for the 2025 ANZAC Round, they’ll be wearing a jersey that carries more than just Club colours. This year’s design honours the Royal Australian Navy’s Mine Warfare and Clearance Diving Group — a unit known for its intense preparation, precision, and resilience under pressure.

It also marks the fourth year of a strong and evolving partnership between the Rabbitohs and the Royal Australian Navy — a relationship grounded in shared values like discipline, leadership, and service to something greater than self. Over the years, the partnership has become more than symbolic. It's been an active exchange of culture and connection between two high-performing teams who understand the power of unity and trust.

For the Rabbitohs, the 2025 jersey is a reflection of that bond. High performance, mateship, and integrity aren’t just pillars of elite sport — they’re at the core of what it means to serve, especially in a branch like Clearance Diving.

“It’s pretty humbling really,” says Chief Clearance Diver Kaine Duncan. “To have an organisation like the Rabbitohs want to be associated with the Clearance Diving branch, and then to have my son run out on ANZAC Day in a jersey that I represent as well… it’s incredible.”

The jersey’s design draws inspiration from the dive team’s multi-faceted role — from underwater repairs to explosive ordnance disposal — and the discipline required to do it right. “When you’re under pressure, everything comes back to how you’ve prepared,” Kaine says. “Your body goes back to what it’s practiced.”

It’s a message that resonates across both codes. On the field or beneath the surface, you rely on your training, your teammates, and your word. “People need to be able to take me at my word,” he says. “If I’ve told my command that I’ve done a particular job, and lives are at stake, they need to believe me. And for Tallis in football, people need to trust that he’ll do his job too.”

That shared standard of trust and accountability is what this jersey is built on. It’s not just a tribute — it’s a symbol of a partnership that continues to grow, shaped by mutual respect and a common goal: to perform with purpose and pride, no matter the arena.
