The South Sydney Rabbitohs are delighted to announce the signing of front rower Sean Keppie for the next three seasons until the end of 2026 today.
Keppie was released from the remainder of his playing contract by the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles with the Rabbitohs taking the opportunity to sign the experienced prop forward.
Keppie, 25, has played 79 NRL matches since making his first grade debut for the Sea Eagles against the Eels in round 25, 2019. His aggression and work rate are hallmarks of his game and he will be a welcome addition to the Rabbitohs on-field ranks for the 2024 season.
Keppie is also an inspiration off the field, having been nominated for the prestigious Ken Stephen Medal in 2021 and 2022 in recognition of his regular community work, an award which has been won over the past two seasons by his future teammates Cody Walker and Latrell Mitchell.
Rabbitohs Head of Football, Mark Ellison, says Keppie will add some starch to South Sydney’s middle rotation.
“We’ve been watching Sean for a number of seasons and he has developed into a strong front rower with controlled aggression in both defence and attack,” Mr Ellison said.
“Manly has had one of the more formidable forward packs in recent seasons and Sean has played a big role in that.
“We’re also impressed with his commitment to working in the community and we’re looking forward to incorporating him into Souths Cares and their transformational programs which all of our players get involved with throughout the year.
“We’re looking forward to Sean joining our squad in November for pre-season training and to seeing him pull on the red and green jersey in 2024 and beyond.”
