Wellbeing Blitz: Inspiring Healthy Habits in Thousands of Students

The South Sydney Rabbitohs squad joined forces with the Rabbitohs Wellbeing team this week for an inspiring community initiative, the Rabbitohs Wellbeing Blitz. This public health-driven campaign saw 31 of the club's NRL squad players visit 11 schools, engaging with an impressive 3,424 students in a single day.

At the heart of the Wellbeing Blitz was the "Your Health, OWN IT!" workshop, a cornerstone of the Rabbitohs Wellbeing Program. This initiative is designed to educate primary and secondary school students on key aspects of health and wellbeing, with a focus on three essential pillars: Nutrition, Movement, and Sleep. The workshop provided students with actionable knowledge to make healthier lifestyle choices, all delivered in an engaging and interactive format.

One of the most powerful aspects of the initiative was the direct involvement of the Rabbitohs players, who shared their own lived experiences around health and wellbeing. Their presence and willingness to open up about their personal journeys made a significant impact on the students, reinforcing the importance of healthy habits.

The Rabbitohs Wellbeing Blitz was a fantastic initiative that delivered key messages on healthy eating, exercise, and wellbeing. Hearing from South Sydney Rabbitohs players made a huge impact, keeping students engaged and eager to participate. Since the visit, excitement has spread through the school, with students already discussing positive lifestyle changes.

For many students, hearing firsthand from their sporting heroes provided an unparalleled level of motivation. Zander and Koa, two students from Gardeners Road Public School, shared their enthusiasm:

"When someone that inspires us, like Latrell Mitchell, is talking, you really want to listen. We are going to make sure we sleep more and drink more water throughout the day like they told us."

The success of the Rabbitohs Wellbeing Blitz highlights the powerful role that professional athletes can play in promoting positive health and lifestyle choices among young people. With such a strong response from students, teachers, and the broader school community, the Rabbitohs Wellbeing Program continues to make a lasting impact, helping to shape a healthier and more informed generation.
