Last week 16 students from Souths Cares’ Liverpool Opportunity Hub, Nanga Mai Marri Program and Deadly Youth Mentoring Program attended an industry visit to Bodyfit at Miranda to learn about career pathways in the fitness sector.
The visit kicked off with an introduction to the Bodyfit facility and safety briefing by Centre Manager, Jodi Alberga, followed by a tour of the state-of-the-art facility which spans over three levels and includes multiple training zones.
Students had the opportunity to get involved in a Pilates or Pump class and enjoyed the chance to train under the guidance of the passionate and skilled Bodyfit Trainers.
The students were also eager to get involved in some weights training, with Souths Cares mentors providing some useful tips for lifting technique as well as general health and fitness principles.
Rhys Wesser, Careers and Education Pathways Advisor“Health and wellbeing are an integral part in a young person's life. If they can learn good habits such as regular exercise at a young age, they can promote positive attitudes towards looking after their body. ''
The Bodyfit team provided gift bags to each student which included some great training gear to support their fitness journeys and a quenching protein shake to repair and rebuild muscles after an intensive workout.
The excursion concluded with a group lunch at Miranda followed by a visit to Cronulla Beach, with students enjoying their time together and taking advantage of a beautiful Spring day in Sydney.
