Last week the Souths Cares team hosted Free Holiday Clinics in Campbelltown and Maroubra engaging over 275 participants.
On Monday the team headed to Benham Oval in Campbelltown, with over 130 local children youth attending the event. Souths Cares Ambassador Yileen Gordon backed up from the Rabbitohs' NSW Cup Grand Final win the previous day to share some valuable Rugby League skills throughout the clinic.
On Wednesday the team were at Heffron Park, with over 140 children and youth attending the event and enjoying the opportunity to hone their Rugby League skills on the picturesque training field used by the South Sydney Rabbitohs squad.
In addition to Rugby League drills, each clinic included a host of engaging activities such as art workshops, cultural workshops, games of Touch Football and a BBQ lunch. Students from the Rabbitohs GOAL College Program helped deliver the skills sessions; bringing their classroom learning into a practical setting.
Lowana Longbottom, Barranggirra Program Manager attended both clinics and facilitated Weaving Workshops for participants.
Lowana LongbottomOur clinics are a great way for us to give back to community and provide families with a free and engaging activity during school holidays. There’s nothing better than seeing the smiles on the kid's faces throughout the day.
Jo Stanley is a mother of two of children who attended the Heffron Clinic and stated the event was an enjoyable experience.
"The Souths Cares clinic was very well organised and both my children loved the activities and opportunity to learn some Rugby League skills", Jo said.
