The third Golden Era from 1967-71 brought forward one of the most famous and distinct jerseys in the Club’s history.
John Sattler made changes to the jersey by rolling up his sleeves before a match, and it was obvious a revolution in jersey design had begun as the short sleeve was considered much more comfortable and functional by most players.
Sattler also inadvertently produced one of the most famous jerseys ever to be worn by a South Sydney player. In the 1970 season, the logo on his jersey was ripped in half, creating a new image - a torn rabbit - which was incorporated into the Club’s 2008 heritage jersey, as well as the 2023 John Sattler commemorative tribute jersey we used soon after his death.
